E-Commerce Better Not Shut Down Bodegas

As businesses everywhere struggle, PepsiCo has been crushing it. They are the kings of snacks and at a time where everyone was pantry-loading, it should be no surprise that this would be their time to shine. However, with less and less people going out to stores, how are they still doing it? E-Commerce for snacks thanks to Snacks.com and PantryShop.com, which have continued PepsiCo’s surge. Will we be actually buying snacks on the web? For New Yorkers, hopefully not.

E-commerce is an easy way to obtain snacks as so many are stuck at home or unable to travel to get food. Hopefully, this trend will not continue is a post-Coronavirus world. For most New Yorkers, there is nothing like going to a local bodega to pick up snacks and other top treats. The prices are usually better, the stores are the backbone of the neighborhood and the best part of bodegas is the feeling knowing that you’re helping out a small business. Many bodegas are owned and ran by first or second generation immigrants looking to get their life started in New York City. It brings us back to a time our ancestors first step foot in The Big Apple and makes us forget the ostentatious lifestyle of NYC when we step in.

To all New Yorkers, forget Snacks.com or PantryShop.com, when this all ends. Make sure to walk in to a bodega. You’ll miss it if they’re gone and they’ll certainly miss you.
